Eco News

We have been following the criteria set by Eco Schools Scotland since 2005. We have achieved 4 green flags during this time, we were actually the first school in the whole of Aberdeenshire to achieve the 4th flag.  Before Christmas we managed to renew our flag for a further year.

Our Eco Group meet regularly and Mrs Thomas attends every meeting.

Last term we focused on litter collection in the school playground and classrooms.  We made posters and performed a rap to the school to send the important message – Please put your litter in the bin!

Presently we are focusing on investigating how we can monitor water use in the school, and discovering why water is so important to us and people all over the world.  We are working towards giving an assembly to the school to share our learner nearer the end of term.

We also run a lunchtime gardening club for all pupils to take part in during Thursday lunch time.  Please sign up on the board next to the front door.

Our school grounds have an outdoor classroom with shaded quiet areas to sit, raised beds for planting vegetables, flowers and plants, a bottle green house with sloping roof and a water butt for reusing rain water off of the greenhouse roof. We also have several plant pots and tractor tyres that we also use to plant in, as well as a wonderful weather station.
